How to Use your outlet checker internationally

Why is it important to test your outlet to confirm it's grounded even if it looks like a grounded outlet?

For an outlet to be properly grounded, two factors need to be in place:

1. The outlet's faceplate (the part of the outlet that you see on the outside of the wall) has to have a ground connection, such as a ground port or ground prong. 

2. The wiring in the wall must connect the outlet's ground port/prong to the ground.

In some cases, an outlet may have a faceplate with a ground port/prong, but the wiring in the wall does not actually connect the outlet to the ground. Therefore, the outlet can look like a grounded outlet, but still not be truly grounded. 

The outlet checker allows you to test the outlet to confirm that the outlet's ground connection is properly grounded, while others may not be. Therefore, the outlet can look like a grounded outlet, but still not be truly grounded. 

The outlet checker allows you to test the outlet to confirm that the outlet's ground connection is properly wired behind the wall.

IMPORTANT: Some buildings will have a mix of properly wired and improperly wired outlets. This means that some of the outlets may be properly grounded, while others may not be. Therefore, test any outlet you're going to use with a GROUNG THERAPY grounding product using the provided outlet checker, even if you've tested other outlets in the building and confirmed that they're properly grounded.

Follow these 5 easy steps to confirm your international outlet is properly grounded:

1. Plug your outlet adaptor into the outlet

2. Plug the outlet checker (provided in every GROUND THERAPY grounding product kit - see picture above) into the outlet adapter

3. Confirm the outlet is properly grounded (using the key on the side of the outlet checker)

4. Unplug the outlet checker

5. Plug in your GROUND THERAPY grounding products
